With a hint of Spring weather in the air and daffodils blooming it is a sure sign the end of winter is near!
I am pleased to say COVID has become manageable and activities have resumed.
Yearly, the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) presents an Emergency Awareness Seminar that provides vital information offering planning and preparation for a disaster. Some of the topics discussed during the presentation include flooding, weather related power outages, shelter information, developing an evacuation plan etc. During the March 16, 2022 presentation, OEM Coordinator, Al Evangelista emphasized strategic actions residents should take prior and during emergency events. Please refer to PLTV Channel 77 or the Borough website to view the Emergency Awareness Seminar.
The Recreation Committee will sponsor an Egg Hunt and is scheduled for April 2, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Tennis Courts. In the past, this event has been well attended and is a fun time for children. Summer Camp at Hershfield Park is scheduled for June 27th through July 29th. Middle School Camp scheduled for July 5th through July 15th will take place at Pompton Lakes High School. Paddle boats will be available to rent after Memorial Day. Recreation is hiring counselors.

Pompton Lakes/Riverdale Little League Opening Day Parade is scheduled for Saturday, April 9, 2022. Baseball and softball teams gather at Pompton Lakes High School at 12:00 noon and the parade ends at Joe Grill Baseball Fields. The ceremonial day events and first pitch follow.
Change of Town Officers Day is scheduled for April 13, 2022. Pompton Lakes High School students assume the role of Mayor and Council and meet with their counterparts prior to a Mock Council Meeting. The CTO meeting begins at 7:00pm in the Municipal Council Chambers and residents are encouraged to attend, as the students are creative and resourceful and provide what they perceive to be of importance.
I am happy to announce many of our programs and events will once again take place. These events have a long history and provide community spirit! Over the last two years, our community has encountered many challenges and these activities bring our neighbors, friends and families together. We all have the same common goal – to continue to make Pompton Lakes the best community to live in.
Spring is a good time of year to get out and enjoy the parks, trails and lake. The Trails Committee maintains the trails within Town and I would encourage residents to hike through the many trails the Borough has to offer. The Borough continues to upgrade park equipment for families to enjoy or a walk by the lake provides a beautiful view.
I would like to remind residents to refer to the Town Calendar as Spring Cleanup for leaves, brush and branches begins in April.
