As of Tuesday, August 10th, we have 14 new cases of COVID-19 in Pompton Lakes over the last two weeks. More than half of the cases are children under 12, who at this point cannot get vaccinated. I am relieved to report that there have been no new COVID-19 related deaths.
Our vaccination rate for residents 12 and older is 75 percent. This is one of the highest percentages in Passaic County. Great job by all of our residents. Let us try to even get a higher percentage.
If you are still looking to receive a vaccination please call the Wayne Health Dept. Please see information below.
Pompton Day is scheduled for Sunday, September 5th, rain date September 6th. Our summer camp recently finished with no COVID-19 cases reported from camp, and everyone had a great time.
To date the state has only changed the mask mandate in schools. Come September, all students, teachers, staff, and school visitors will be required to wear masks.
We keep moving forward and I hope the worst is behind us. Again, I thank all of our residents for taking this seriously and taking the steps to beat this virus.
The town in the short future will be honoring all of our wonderful first responders and town employees who fought this battle for all of us. I know we all thank them.
Have a good rest of your summer.
Mayor Michael Serra
