The Borough of Pompton Lakes is closely monitoring the winter storm as forecasted by U.S. National Weather Service (NWS). In the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS)'s latest accumulation predictions, 12-18 inches is expected for Pompton Lakes, with snowfall to begin around 4:00 p.m. today. Governor Murphy has declared a State of Emergency effective at 2:00 p.m. today, and all non-essential travel is discouraged.
As a reminder, whenever snow has fallen and the accumulation is such that it covers the street, highway or thoroughfare to such a depth that snow removal or plowing is necessary, thus creating an emergency, it shall be unlawful for any vehicle to be parked on any street in the Borough of Pompton Lakes. The above parking prohibition shall remain in effect after the snow has ceased until the streets have been plowed sufficiently to the extent that parking will not interfere with the normal flow of traffic. This ordinance is in place to allow DPW employees to properly plow the streets without interference and to ensure the roadway is clear of snow and ice well beyond the end of the storm. In addition please help keep your neighbors safe in a fire emergency by clearing snow from all fire hydrants and sidewalks.
