[ARCHIVED] POMPTON LAKES RECYCLING UPDATE

Recyling Final 2019

POMPTON LAKES RECYCLING UPDATE

Recently, the Borough was informed by our vendor who accepts and processes our recycling that the criteria has changed on what is now considered to be a recyclable.  This decision was made at the State level due to a lack of markets for the material, namely China.  The Borough must respond quickly to adhere to the new guidelines or face significant costs for delivering contaminated material to our vendor.  The borough needs your assistance in meeting this new mandate.

Effective immediately, the following items are acceptable for recycling: newspaper, magazines, cardboard, junk mail, paper bags, plastic such as detergent, shampoo and milk jugs, cans and bottles, glass food jars.  Please do not recycle: Styrofoam, plastic bags, pizza boxes and plastic toys.  A full list of items can be found on the Borough Website and Channel 77.

The Borough will provide a town wide collection of allowable recyclables next Thursday, October 17th.  Please see that only the acceptable material is out for collection.

The Borough appreciates your patience and cooperation as we implement this change.
