Trails Maintenance Committee

The Trails Maintenance Committee is a volunteer group dedicated to the maintenance and improvement of Pompton Lakes' trails, located on the south end along the Pequannock River. 


Trails Committee meets 2nd Tuesday in May and December at 7pm in the Council Chambers

Trails Maintenance


The Committee hosts 8 regularly scheduled maintenance days per year, two per season, to ensure the trails are in good condition and free of debris, for the enjoyment of Pompton Lakes residents and visitors.

National Trails Day


In addition to maintaining the trails, the Committee has planned, organized, and hosted the annual American Hiking Society's National Trails Day(r), which is held the first Saturday of every June. Past National Trails Day events include: 


2015: Pompton Lakes Trails Ribbon Cutting and Family Hike

2016: Wildflower Planting at entrance to Lincoln Trail and Family Hike

2017: Bat Box installation and Ribbon Cutting for Oakwood Connector Loop

2018: Hershfield Park Trail Work and Dedication - Saturday, June 2, 2018, 10:00am
2019: Morris Canal Greenway Ribbon Cutting - Saturday, June 1, 2019 10:00 am
2022:  Program and Location To Be Announced


Family Hike Series

The Trails Committee also partners with the Pompton Lakes Recreation Commission to sponsor and lead its Family Hike series, intended to connect Pompton Lakes families and kids back to nature. The hikes are committee led, and attainable so young children can participate.

  • September 18, 2022 at 1pm - High Mountain Park Preserve,100 University Drive, Wayne
